My
name is Derek Toohey. I grew up right here in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I attended King Elementary, Clague Middle School, and am a very proud Huron River Rat! I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education with endorsements in reading and early childhood
education from Eastern Michigan University.
I have been teaching for 14 years. My first year I taught a 1st/2nd multi-age class in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Then due to a family emergency I needed to move back to Ann Arbor. I have been teaching Kindergarten in the Ann Arbor Public Schools for 14 years.
I am married to my beautiful wife Emmy. We have 3 children. Our oldest Lilly is in 10th grade at Skyline, our middle daughter Charlotte is an 8th grader at Forsythe, and our youngest Bennett is a 3rd grader here at Wines. I'm a huge University of Michigan football fan and love to coach, referee, and play soccer. I love to spend time with my family, run, and teach. Teaching truly is my passion and my goal is for your son or daughter to not only learn a tremendous amount this year but have fun doing it.
